Elgin Klugh, Ph.D.

Elgin Klugh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Social and Political Sciences at Coppin State University.  Dr. Klugh received his training in applied anthropology at the University of South Florida, where he became interested in issues relating to heritage and community development.  He serves as Chair of the Laurel Cemetery Memorial Project.

Ronald Castanzo, Ph.D.

Ronald A. Castanzo is Associate Dean in the Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Baltimore. An archaeologist by training, he has worked on issues involving the archaeology of African Americans for the last two decades, which eventually led him several years ago to the investigation of Laurel Cemetery in East Baltimore.

Isaac Shearn, Ph.D.

Isaac Shearn earned his PhD in 2014 at the University of Florida and is an adjunct professor at the University of Baltimore and Coppin State University. Apart from this project, his research focuses primarily on the archaeology and ethnohistory of the Caribbean and South America, with a focus on public archaeology and the development of inclusive and participatory methods.

Donna Tyler Hollie, Ph.D.

Donna Tyler Hollie is a native Baltimorean and a retired professor of History and Social Science at Sojourner-Douglass College.  A charter member and vice-president for history of the Baltimore Chapter of the Afro American Historical and Genealogical Society, she is also the co-founder and vice president of Heritage Associates, a firm specializing in historical and genealogical research.  


Glenn Blackwell

Glenn Blackwell serves as the Vice President of Genealogy for the Baltimore Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society. Additionally, he leads the effort to identify Laurel Cemetery burials reported in Baltimore City death certificates.
